Dalia Packaging

Dalia is a brand that sells shower gel, body lotion, and body spray. These products are infused with avocado oil which is full of Vitamin A, D, & E to keep your skin supple and moisturized. The body spray will have the sensual fresh, fruity, herbal, and slightly nutty scent of avocado oil. Dalia, meaning gentle in several languages, has the message that it is an all-natural brand that produces gentle and effective products.

The packaging represents Dalia’s message with the copy, color and imagery. The illustration depicts an avocado upon a splash of avocado oil telling consumers the product is infused with it. The green label and other colors used in the text are natural colors that are within an avocado. The label shape is in the shape of an avocado and the inside of the back label contains a geometric pattern using the colors of an avocado.

Below is the initial sketch that began my thought process.

I wanted to make an illustration of a splash of avocado oil with an avocado upon it that would be inviting, glistening, and that gave a sense of belief in the product.

Coffee Poster

Here is a poster I made that includes an info-graphic as to what goes inside each type of coffee. Below is my process. I began by figuring what brushes I wanted to use for the cup and for texture. I also spent a lot of time figuring out what colors would work best for this poster. Also, I began to create what color and brush/ pattern would be each ingredient. I also created the patterns using different sized and colored polka dots. color_theory_coffee_100dpi

Perfume Article Spot Illustrations

spots_100dpi_rgb

Here are the spot illustrations I made that go along with the perfume spread. Shown here are illustrations that summarize little snippets of the article. One part would be that many people are allergic to natural perfume which goes with the first illustration. Then there is a part that describes how an essence of a lemon is very different than the smell of a real live lemon. The third illustration describes how many ingredients are actually endangered. The fourth illustration is of citrus oils that are commonly used in perfume-making. The final illustration explains that oranges come from Haiti, roses from Turkey, cinnamon from India, and patchouli from France.

Perfume Spread

perfumespread__100dpiFor this editorial spread is meant to act as an opening spread to an article that explains the pros and cons of having unnatural ingredients in your perfume, one pro being that it can last much longer and smell much stronger than a faint smell a natural ingredient would have. I wanted to capture this idea by having the main women in red have a trail of smoke from the perfume all the way from up the escalators. The other women in the mall are trying to spray away to smell as good as the lady in red, but they just cannot capture her scent.

Adelina Domingues: oldest woman alive

grandma_100dpi_rgbAdelina was recognized as the World’s Oldest Person in 2012. She passed away on August 21, 2002 as a 114 year old woman. She was one to never pay attention to her looks. She was known to race down the hallways of her nursing home. So for this illustration I wanted to exaggerate this idea and have her spinning and dancing on a wheelchair while other elderly people in the nursing home look at her in disbelief.

Symposium Poster

symposium_100Here is a poster that contains information for events going on at Yale School of Architecture. I did research and made sure I knew the style that this school is known for and that is how I came to this simplistic black and white look. The events are split up by day and events and people are labeled in a way so that it is consistent throughout and easier for someone looking for a specific event or person.

Ariana Grande

ariana_100dpiHere is an acrylic painting of Ariana Grande. This is an editorial piece that is meant to capture that Ariana is inspired by the 60s for her fashion. She has a 60s hairstyle and sparkly black dress. The microphone is also from the 60s. Also, there is the cat ears that she is known for wearing to bring this back into the present.

Nobel Prize Winners

Here is an editorial piece of all the nobel prize winners of 2014. In the front is Shuji Nakamura, the inventor of the blue LED, a major breakthrough in lighting technology. Shuji next to his fellow physics nobel prize winner Isamu Akasaki lead the way as the winners are tiny people walking along the mustache of a giant nobel prize.
